A modern youth, Yue Chuan, unexpectedly time-travels just as the aging Earth God is reaching his limit and about to perish. Receiving an imperial decree from the Human Sovereign, he steps into the breach to succeed as the Earth God, residing within the statue of a dilapidated earth temple. This place is uninhabited and desolate, followed only by a cultivating ferret named Da Huang. Without a system or golden fingers, Yue Chuan relies on earth spells, leading Da Huang to repair the temple and make tiles, produce pottery, clear wasteland, and collect incense to seek the refinement of his dharma form. He successively takes in ferret brothers, the Qingqiu fox clan member Hu Er, and a host of demon monster disciples, teaching them farming, house building, salt making, and coin casting, leading the monsters to cast aside their raw, savage beastly ways and learn to establish themselves as humans. Together, the group reclaims wasteland, stores grain, and develops their tribe, step by step establishing a homeland belonging to the monsters.
