The former dynasty princess Li Zhaozhao lived incognito in a security agency. While escorting her elder sister back to the capital, they were ambushed, and her elder sister died. To investigate the true culprit, she returned to the Nan'an Marquis Manor under the identity of the marquis's legitimate daughter, only to be repeatedly schemed against by the fake heiress and the cold-blooded family. Relying on her wits, Li Zhaozhao fought back at the flower-appreciation banquet and the family-recognition banquet, and got acquainted with the eunuch commander Ye Ming. Ye Ming protected her in secret, helping her take back three Mysterious Iron Tokens. The two used a political marriage of convenience to break the deadlock, growing from used chess pieces into chess players, uncovering an old imperial usurpation case, jointly restoring the country, and rewriting the landscape of the realm.
