While playing a game, office worker Li Zhu unexpectedly crosses into a Western fantasy world. Reborn as Nessard, a defective, wingless dragon beast rejected by his own kind, he activates the *Illustrated Guide to Mountains and Seas* just as he is about to die. It grants him Taotie’s power to devour anything and take its talents and abilities. Scorned by his dragon mother and bullied by his kin, he struggles to survive in the Rotten-Scale Swamp, devouring magical beasts and evolving along the way. After rescuing Lilith, the Witch of Calamity, he is drawn into conflicts among several factions and enters the dangerous Chaos Crown Academy. Using the powers of the strange beasts from the *Classic of Mountains and Seas*, he grows stronger step by step in a world full of formidable foes, breaks free of the limits of his bloodline, and sets out to take revenge on every dragon who looked down on him.
