The White Dragon, feared by his own elder brother, the eldest crown prince of the Dragon Palace, has been shackled at the bottom of a dark cliff for three years by a vicious Heart-Eroding Chain. To secure his position as crown prince, his elder brother repeatedly comes to inflict devastating injuries on his dragon meridians and steal his dragon energy and blood, intending to cripple his cultivation and imprison him forever. By chance, an ordinary woodcutter named A Shi hears cries for help from the bottom of the cliff. Initially wary when he encounters the White Dragon, A Shi develops compassion after learning the truth. Even though the Heart-Eroding Chain is indestructible and the rescue is perilous, A Shi is determined to save the White Dragon, who has suffered the betrayal of his own brother and endured relentless torment. Thus begins a fantastical tale of a mortal rescuing a dragon and bringing him redemption.
