Wang Yan is the behind-the-scenes person in charge of a 30-million-yuan provincial rural revitalization project. Hiding his true identity, he returns to his hometown for the Lunar New Year disguised as an impoverished migrant worker. Facing mockery from relatives, humiliation from snobs, and betrayal by his ex-girlfriend, he tests people's hearts by borrowing money. Only his poorest third uncle is willing to offer up his coffin savings to help him. Wang Yan then reveals his identity as Mr. Wang and takes control of the project's allocation, leaving those who once trampled on him consumed with regret. Along the way, he gets caught in a power struggle between township officials Zhang Yuan and Lu Tianming, joins forces with businesswoman Shen Man to fight back, and ultimately leads the villagers who treated him sincerely toward shared prosperity.
