Wang Haiquan, an entrepreneur who returns to his hometown, comes back to Cangshui Village, advances the funds to repair roads and build cold-chain facilities, and guarantees to buy villagers' live fish at 12 yuan per jin. He takes responsibility for transportation losses to help his fellow villagers maintain a stable increase in income. Wang Ergou, a local village thug, grows jealous and steals a contract, spreading rumors that Wang Haiquan is making an unscrupulous profit from the price difference. He incites the villagers to drive Wang Haiquan out of the village and promises an astronomical purchase price of 28 yuan per jin. Blinded by greed, the villagers drive out the very man who sincerely wanted to help them. The lies are soon exposed, millions of jin of live fish are at risk of dying in their ponds, and the entire village falls into a desperate crisis.
