Hikers Chen Song and his accomplice Lin Tao covet an antique incense burner in the mountain, approaching the living-alone Old Lady Li under the guise of losing their way and asking for lodging, intending to force-buy it at a low price. Noticing the duo's tomb-robbing and greedy motives, the old lady joins forces with undercover woman Xiao Wan to set up a maze. Taking turns claiming each other is a soul-taking evil ghost, the two use soul-breaking incense and fate contracts to create a terrifying illusion, inducing Chen Song and Lin Tao into mutual suspicion and infighting. After the two spill all their criminal evidence of tomb robbing and trafficking cultural relics, Xiao Wan opens the door to bring in the police. It turns out the incense burner is just an ordinary old item, all ghost talks were setups, and in the end, Chen and Lin are caught on the spot for suspected cultural relic theft.
