A Clear-Cut Account in the Pastry Shop
Pastry chef Xu Zhihe completes a large custom order at her relative Lin Man's pastry shop, only for Lin Man to try to use family ties to erase the commission they had agreed upon. Determined to stand on her own, Xu Zhihe quits and starts her own business in the kitchen of a teahouse. She insists on food safety and puts every agreement in writing. Facing vicious price wars, stolen business information, and industry prejudice against outsiders, she refuses to take loss-making orders or cover for other people's mistakes, drawing a clear line between personal relationships and professional responsibilities. As one controversy after another erupts over a traditional recipe restoration project, she is even maliciously framed through deliberately edited evidence. Yet, relying on her complete records, she stands firm and steadily carves out her own path in the Chinese pastry business.
