Li Ping, owner of the Old Street hardware store, blindly believed in rumors of a demolition windfall. Vain and greedy, she teamed up with outsiders to force her husband, Wang Gang, to leave with nothing, monopolizing the Old Street shop and dumping an abandoned suburban warehouse and eighty thousand in external debts onto Wang Gang. Unexpectedly, Old Street was only undergoing an outer wall renovation project that closed roads for half a month, while the suburban warehouse became the core area of a key government-planned hardware logistics center. Relying on integrity and hard work, Wang Gang staged a counterattack to become a renowned building materials merchant, whereas Li Ping lost everything due to high-interest loans, was abandoned by everyone, and ultimately ended up as a night market dishwasher.
