The mist silkworms at Yun Zhi Workshop suddenly begin producing cloud silk that is brittle and snaps easily. Feng Yanqiu, Zhuo Huaijin, and the others do not rush to assign blame. Instead, they investigate each possibility in turn, from loom tension and mulberry leaves to the silkworms' condition and the humidity in the silkworm chambers. Eventually, they trace the problem to an abnormality in the mist delivery. Following the old mist-guiding corridor, they discover a deviation in the mist-guiding system that prevents water vapor from reaching the silkworm chambers properly. Working together, they recalibrate the mist-guiding stones and mist channels. The cold mist rises again, the brittle silk gradually regains its flexibility, and the mist silkworms resume eating and spinning silk.
