With torrential autumn rains approaching, young Lin Chuan, who knows the weather patterns well, desperately urges the villagers to harvest their corn early. Unexpectedly, Zhang Cuihong and her son Liu Neng deliberately obstruct him, hoping to wait for unscrupulous merchants who promised to buy the entire mountain's harvest at a high price. Before the storm arrives, the merchants disappear, and their lies are exposed. Holding no grudges, Lin Chuan leads everyone in harvesting the crops in the pouring rain to minimize their losses. In the end, the entire village reconciles, and Lin Chuan is recognized as an outstanding individual and appointed chairman of the agricultural machinery cooperative.
