Jiang Manshan returns to Red Flag Village in the seventies, back to the difficult period when his parents died early and his family was in dire poverty. By a twist of fate, he brings the miserably situated Wen sisters home; the two were originally daughters of scientific researchers who encountered misfortune. He is well-versed in wild plants and herbs, going into the mountains to work to improve their lives and overturn others' prejudices. Faced with harassment and scheming, he cooperates with relevant departments to defuse crises and rescue the younger sister. When the younger sister's university entrance examination admission qualification is usurped, he gathers evidence to appeal and defend his rights according to regulations. The Wen couple arrive after a long journey, and the sisters are finally reunited with their family. Entrusted by his father-in-law, Jiang Manshan devotes himself to experimental station work, leading his family to take root in the mountain ravines and strive steadily, forging a prosperous and happy life.
