Xiulan's family suffers a misfortune, and their food supply is on the verge of running out. The village chief advises Lin Shan to go help take care of her family, and Lin Shan agrees. At first, he only wants to help Xiulan and Xiaoxing get through the hard times; while gathering mountain goods in the mountains, however, he sees a livelihood in the barren forest. Lin Shan and Xiulan contract the barren forest, grow seedlings and sell goods, facing debts, damaged seedling fields, and the villagers' doubts one after another. Keeping their promise, the two lead everyone to turn the barren mountain into a productive forest land, and also find a home of their own.
