In 1975, Zhao Changhe is reborn and exposes his mother's scheme to force him to take the blame for his murderous older brother. After reporting his entire family under his real name, he voluntarily heads to Guhe for rural resettlement. When the mules and horses in the forest region develop a strange illness, he sees through the experts' misdiagnosis and saves the livestock with traditional Chinese medicine, earning an exceptional appointment as an official at the veterinary station. Later, he rescues a severely injured hunting dog, ventures into the mountains to kill wild boars and black bears, befriends a group of hunters, and earns the name of the famous dog Bawang. After repeatedly rescuing villagers in danger and punishing despicable villains, he surveys the forest's resources, writes livestock-breeding plans, trains hunting dogs, and befriends members of the Oroqen people. Making up for the regrets of his previous life, he carves out a brand-new future in the forest region and protects the woman he loves, Zhu Nanzhi.
