Zhao Fan, the number one God of War, is betrayed by the Desolate Ancient Emperor and reborn, possessing the body of a useless family patriarch in Dutu City. He cultivates the Indestructible Heaven-Battling Art, refines medicinal pills, forges spiritual arrays, obtains heavenly fire, and seizes the Heavenly Destiny Bone, crushing powerful enemies all along the way. First, he cripples Chen Quan, defeats Zhao Liang, and kills Zhao Di, then exposes the truth that his second uncle, Zhao Yingtian, colluded with the Blood Slaughter Hall and caused his parents' deaths before personally executing Zhao Yingtian. During the winter hunt, he slays Wang Chenglong and Zhou Buping and destroys the Wang family. He then moves on to Xinghe City, cripples Jin Buhuan, kills Jin Buduo, slays Zhou Jun, and battles Jin Ming. Entering a secret realm, he obtains Ice Rock Crystals, consumes Bodhi Lotus Seeds, and masters the Eight Desolations Lion's Roar. After severely wounding the mutated Ice Soul Snake Queen, he finally breaks into the palace and kills Jin Yi with a single palm strike, setting his sights directly on the treasures inside the pagoda.
