In the 1980s, Lin Wei lived a life of digging wild vegetables and eating chaff, while her husband Shen Li, the director of the supply and marketing cooperative, handed over his entire monthly salary of two hundred yuan without a single coin left to his foster mother's pocket. Unwilling to be exploited to the bone by her husband's family, Lin Wei smashed the medicine jar publicly, proposed a divorce, and demanded a settlement of years of family property. Shen Li woke up as if from a dream, turned around to protect his wife, and completely cut off his foster mother's financial path. To gather the bride price for her biological younger son to get married, the foster mother gathered clan elders to launch a moral kidnapping against Lin Wei. Just when Lin Wei was driven to desperation, her biological parents from the city drove small cars roaring into the village, and Lin Wei's identity as the factory director's daughter was revealed in public.
