Zhao Xiaoman, a Suzhou embroidery artist, steps into the courtyard of Han Tieliang, an artisan of molten iron fireworks, determined to help him transform his quiet courtyard into an intangible cultural heritage experience workshop. Han Tieliang refuses to change his trade, so Zhao Xiaoman uses measurements and embroidery techniques to reason with him. Together, they build a low wall to separate the furnace, stretch an old drumhead to listen to its sound, and let visitors strike iron pieces, leaving marks of varying depths on iron plates. When Li Miaomiao takes up the willow-wood stick, the iron blossoms find their next pair of hands.
