Lin Yuan is well-versed in ancient books, yet willingly makes a living selling grilled sausages on the street, solely because he once vowed to his mother that he would never get involved with antiques. His ex-wife, Chen Ting, is materialistic and, after divorcing him, throws herself into the arms of the con artist Qian Yaohua. Relying on his profound knowledge, Lin Yuan discovers hidden treasures while appraising antiques and eventually finds the priceless national treasure, the ancient book The Great Canon of Changle. He donates this national treasure to a university for academic research without asking for a single cent. University professor Su Wanying is captivated by his talent and integrity and takes the initiative to pursue him. In the end, Lin Yuan wins respect and love through his genuine knowledge and abilities, while Chen Ting and Qian Yaohua suffer the consequences of their own greed.
