Empress Dowager Xue Danling of the Lingshou Kingdom gave birth to Chu Qingli in the cold palace. She was born able to communicate with all beasts. Upon learning that her maternal grandfather Xue Qianyu's family had been framed and exiled to Wanshou Mountain by Grand Tutor Hu Qiufeng, who intended to silence them using a beast tide, she rode a golden eagle to subdue the tiger king and various beasts to save the Xue family. When the 300,000-strong army of the Hanwu Kingdom invaded, Chu Qingli led all beasts to reinforce and drive away the enemy. The Prince of You colluded with Hu Qiufeng's remaining party to rebel, controlling her sworn brother Xue Yunting with gu-poison; Chu Qingli suppressed the rebellion and broke the poison to expose the conspiracy. Gathering her ancestors' jade pendants to open the Beast God Ruins, she gained the power to command all beasts, and for her great merits in protecting the country, she was enfeoffed as the Princess Protector of the Country, guarding the Lingshou Kingdom.
