26-year-old corporate slave Lao Zhu, the moment he opens his eyes, unexpectedly is reborn as "Dazhuang", the New Year slaughter pig waiting to be butchered in farmer Lao Zhou's pigsty—only thirty days left until the Year-end pig-slaughtering feast. To avoid ending up on the dinner table, Lao Zhu tries his utmost—acting as an auspicious beast, pretending to be a blessed pig, engaging in wits and courage, forming alliances and winning over a group of yardmates including a husky, a house cat, and a big white goose, stirring up a series of chaotic and comical incidents like "fat pig arching the door" and "pig spared under the knife". On the day of slaughter, the aunt demands compensation, the clan elders settle accounts, and everyone blocks the blade; Lao Zhu is finally publicly canonized as the house-protecting blessed pig, promoted from a temporary worker waiting to be cooked to the most needed member of this family.
