Chen Yuan is betrayed by his third uncle. When he is seriously injured, he saves a golden snake with an injured belly. The golden snake bestows upon him golden snake scales, enabling him to gain the ability to sense the mountains and forests and understand the voices of animals. Relying on this skill, Chen Yuan gathers a large number of rare mountain goods in the depths of the forbidden mountain—century-old Ganoderma lucidum, old mountain ginseng, and wild Polygonatum, earning his first pot of gold and recapturing the mountain field occupied by his father.
