Tang Shouzheng, an heir to the tradition of soup-filled steamed buns, is falsely accused of theft by his eldest uncle's wife and beaten out of the family home by his grandmother with a cane. His girlfriend abandons him as well. Carrying his grandfather's old steamer basket, he starts selling buns at a street stall and partners with Song Xiaoyu to open a shop. Facing repeated sabotage from his eldest uncle and Ma Yaohui, he travels to Linjiang to learn a secret sand ginger technique. He brings the old flavor back to life, eventually opens a flagship store, and reclaims his grandfather's old shop sign.
