After cultivating for two thousand years, Gu Xuan, a Nascent Soul ancestor, fails his tribulation and opens his eyes to find himself back on Earth, where only one summer vacation has passed. Having once slain demon kings and ventured into forbidden lands, the first thing he does upon returning is not to enter seclusion, but to go to college. His mother arranges for him to stay at Aunt Shen's home and casually assigns him to protect the heiress Su Qingyan. Sports cars cannot outrun him, martial arts champions cannot even touch his clothes, and an ancient jade he buys for 200 yuan turns out to be worth 100,000. Yet Su Qingyan thinks he is merely a country bumpkin who boasts without thinking. Only when the Han family comes knocking does she begin to wonder who this man living in her home really is.
