Sun Yuan is a hardworking young man who runs a barbecue restaurant called Spark Barbecue in the city. Deeply attached to his hometown, he has long purchased aged corn kernels from Qiaode Village at prices higher than the market rate, using them as fuel for his barbecue business to help the villagers increase their income. However, the village chief, Wu Kun, recent college graduate Chen Jing, and the greedy villagers are not grateful. Instead, they believe Sun Yuan has made enormous profits from their corn. Incited by Chen Jing, the villagers collectively cause trouble, demanding that Sun Yuan hand over his restaurant and the 20 million yuan in financing, while cutting off his corn supply in an attempt to force him to submit.
