A gray sparrow accidentally falls into a Vermilion Bird nest and is adopted by the Vermilion Bird Sovereign Chi Yao as her own child, transforming from a sparrow into a phoenix and calling her mother. Yunque Yao originally plans to run away overnight, but is caught back time and again by her three older brothers and sisters, and instead finds her heart warmed by this home. At the ancestral worship grand ceremony, the Vermilion Bird Spiritual Mirror fails to reflect her bloodline, and Great Elder Chi Xiao publicly forces her to recognize a foreign clan and enter the Burning Fire Pool. Driven to a desperate corner, Yunque Yao suddenly realizes that she is actually a Demise Vermilion Bird capable of communicating with yin and yang, able to command wandering souls. Through the voices of the multitude of souls, she uncovers a shocking secret: the one who truly stole the primordial true fire and killed countless Vermilion Birds is none other than Chi Xiao, and even the great fire that caused the tragic death of the Sovereign's own young bird back then is related to him.
