Wu Xiaoya accidentally falls into a phoenix nest. In a moment of danger, she blurts out a call of "Mom" to save herself. Despite the strange looks from her clanspeople, Feng Qiwutong, the Phoenix Queen, insists on adopting her as her daughter and names her Feng Xiaoqi. Knowing full well that she is an impostor, Wu Xiaoya repeatedly plots to escape, only to be intercepted and dragged back by her older brothers and sisters every time. At the ancestral worship ceremony, the ambitious Grand Elder Feng Xuanlie relentlessly corners her, forcing her to undergo an examination with the Ancestral Blood Mirror and even demanding that she enter the Nirvana Fire Pool to prove her identity. In this desperate predicament, Wu Xiaoya unexpectedly awakens the long-extinct Netherworld Phoenix bloodline, gaining the ability to communicate with the souls of the dead across the boundary between yin and yang.
