An 80-Yuan Wage Discrepancy, Old Grudges at the Factory Gate
In 2015, Lin Weidong earned his first fortune working in agricultural product distribution. Persuaded by his father and villagers to return to his hometown of Qingxi Town, he invested in the Qingxi Mountain Products Processing Factory, specializing in dried bamboo shoots, shiitake mushrooms, chestnuts, canned yellow peaches, and festive gift boxes. He originally wanted to create jobs for local villagers close to home. Out of consideration for family ties, he appointed his maternal cousin Guo Gang as packaging workshop director and Guo Gang's son, Guo Xiaolong, to work in the warehouse. Just as the factory began to thrive, on the day of its inspection and acceptance, Guo Gang led more than twenty people to block the factory gate, publicly denouncing Lin Weidong as a heartless boss.
