In 1987 in Jiangcheng, Jinsheng Troupe head Xu Jinkui stubbornly guarded the ancestral rule that opera is passed down to men and not to women, and relentlessly suppressed his eldest daughter Xu Xiaotang, who was obsessed with singing opera. His arch-rival Qian Mantang bribed the top star of the Jinsheng Troupe, intending to wreck a private banquet performance. Xiaotang, who had secretly learned for many years, stepped forward to save the show, and a single vocal performance amazed everyone present. Xu Jinkui woke up to reality, wholeheartedly cultivated his daughter to reorganize the opera troupe and apply for intangible cultural heritage, but faced repeated underhanded schemes and sabotage from Qian Mantang. Father and daughter joined forces, using true skill and upright theatrical virtue to fight back one by one, ultimately exposing all dark plots in public. The Jinsheng Troupe successfully applied for intangible cultural heritage, Xiaotang became a leading master performer, and the century-old ancestral rule was officially broken.
