In the early years of the Republic in Licheng, Qi Xiaoshan, leader of the Xiaoyi Alliance, was ambushed by the Black Dragon Society while attending grain business negotiations and died of heavy injuries. His only son, Qi Jinghong, who had returned from studying abroad, was attacked and lost his memory right upon arriving in Licheng. He was saved by Chu Yutang and temporarily identified as a murder suspect of his father. After recovering his identity, he investigated the truth and discovered his father had long been slowly poisoned by medicinal wine, pointing the finger at Shanjun Hall leader Wang Hu, and was also shocked to learn he was the illegitimate son of Wang Hu and Xiao Diexian. After Xiao Diexian publicly exposed Wang Hu's crimes, she committed suicide. Qi Jinghong gathered all evidence, joined hands with everyone to eradicate the traitor. Afterward, he pacified internal rebellion, reformed alliance rules, and led the Xiaoyi Alliance to abandon the dark for legitimate business, transforming into a protective merchant alliance guarding the people of Licheng.
