Over sixty years old, Zhou Xiulan has worked hard to raise her son, dedicating all her savings to support him in establishing a family and career. In her later years, however, her son and daughter-in-law plan her life for her, arbitrarily dividing Zhou Xiulan's housing and intending to make the elder move to live in the countryside while keeping the property for their own relatives' use. Seeing through the selfish motives behind family affection, Zhou Xiulan chooses to independently dispose of the real estate under her name, using the proceeds from selling the house to purchase a small apartment suitable for living alone. Refusing to be coerced by the demands of the younger generation, she firmly guards her own rights and interests, lives out a poised and carefree old age, and also tells everyone that family affection requires mutual respect, and the lives of the elders should be grasped by themselves.
