Chen Mo, a modern-day engineer, unexpectedly travels to an alternate dynasty resembling the pre-Qin era, where he becomes a laborer forced to build a border wall. By chance, he uses the supplies he brought with him to help the dynasty's ruler. Afterwards, he takes charge of workshops, promotes papermaking, salt production, and innovative machinery, and establishes the Directorate of Manufactures. At court, old and new ideas constantly clash, while hostile forces secretly wait for an opportunity to strike. Relying not on illusory magic but on practical skills, he promotes techniques that benefit the people, hoping to help this land achieve stability and development so its people can live in peace.
