The Tian family in Huaishu Village has given birth to six sons in a row and lives in dire poverty, when they finally have a daughter in their old age named Fengya, nicknamed Tangbao, who is endowed with the fortune of a koi. With a casual wave of her hand, she digs up ginseng, draws fish to offer meat, causes gold bars to appear by themselves, and makes locust plagues bypass them, leading her whole family to rise from the laughingstock of the village into the richest family. Along the way, she meets the stranded young master Gu Chuan, experiences adventures at the temple fair, cleverly uncovers a thief's den, and reunites the whole family in a homecoming, as the beloved little lucky star brings prosperity to everyone.
