In the Shun'an Dynasty, Wen Zongji, an editor in charge of manuscripts at the Capital Gazette Office, is ordered by the Crown Prince to leave the capital on an inspection tour. Officially, he is tasked with supervising the local branches of the Capital Gazette Office, but secretly, he is investigating the old case of the Tongzhou Dam breach. His wife, County Princess Anhe, Pei Rujing, remains in the capital, managing the Fusheng Newspaper and navigating the social circles of the Marquis's residence and the Grand Princess's mansion. Wen Zongji travels through Guangyang, Yangzhou, and Tongzhou, searching for witnesses and unraveling layers of deception until he exposes a corrupt network led by Huang Yecai, the Prefect of Tongzhou, and brings all the criminals to justice.
