Twenty years ago, Gu Yanchen ran into Liu Xiaoman at a breakfast stall in an urban village. Xiaoman's family was impoverished, and her adoptive mother Liu Guiying was bedridden with a severe leg injury. Holding a "money" she drew with crayons, Xiaoman wanted to buy eggs to nourish her adoptive mother. Gu Yanchen picked up the dropped cash returned by Xiaoman, and feeling compassionate, not only bought a large bag of breakfast for Xiaoman, but also paid for Liu Guiying's medical treatment, promised to cover Xiaoman's tuition fees, and exhorted Xiaoman to help others within her capacity when she grew up.
