Returning to Kaoshan Tun in 1982, Chen Feng—a good-for-nothing and reckless loafer who lived a muddled life—is reborn with endless remorse from his past life. In his past life, he was foolish, selfish, and cowardly, pushing away Su Qingyue who treated him with a sincere heart, ruining her innocence and life, and driving her to despair and suicide in a lake. His mother also died early of depression due to years of overwork and worry, while he himself ended up in a miserable state of bitter loneliness and lifelong regret. Awakened by rebirth, he returns to the exact day all the tragedies began. Facing the disdain and curses of the entire village, the furious accountability of his father-in-law Su Jianzhi, and the aggressive Su brothers who swore to protect their sister with their lives, Chen Feng completely sheds his past rebellious and unruly ways.
