During the autumn harvest, the village's only tractor suddenly breaks down. The repairman demands an exorbitant fee and delays the repairs, putting the entire village at risk of losing its harvest to the fields. Lin Chuan, a young scrap-metal collector who has long been ostracized, stands firm against Accountant Chen's obstruction and the villagers' doubts. Convinced that there is more to the breakdown than meets the eye, he plans to dismantle discarded farm machinery overnight and piece together a working machine. He stakes everything on getting the tractor back into the fields before dawn and saving the village from disaster.
