Gu Jianguo, a 58-year-old former chief surgeon at a top-tier hospital, served as a free babysitter for his children and grandchildren for eight years after retirement, only to be forced by his daughter-in-law to sign a gift agreement and be kicked out. Driven to a desperate corner, he accidentally met Su Wanqing, the former chairperson of a medical and elderly care group, and the two entered into a fake marriage to get what they each needed. Gu Jianguo cut off supplies and loans, overhauled the rehabilitation center, tracked down corruption, and went from a contract with Su Wanqing to genuine affection, joining hands to start a new life in their later years; the living-off-their-parents son and daughter-in-law ultimately faced supply cuts, judicial auction, and reaping what they sowed.
