Modern commercial genius Chen Jiahao transmigrates into the poorest magistrate of Mingsha Pass in the Dashu dynasty, petitioning for poverty year after year while secretly turning the frontier into a bustling, miraculous city using concrete roads, department stores, VIP gold cards, and banking bill exchanges. The emperor, accompanied by the empress and the haughty princess Li Zhaoyang, goes on an undercover inspection intending to catch a corrupt official, only to have their jaws dropped by the streetful of silk stockings, night markets, and hot air balloons. Chen Jiahao flatters the empress into delight with his sweet words and wins the princess's heart, then pulls out firearms and cannons to seal his legend in battle when enemy states press at the border. By the time the emperor's identity is revealed, he discovers that his own princess has long been kidnapped away by this wicked merchant.
