Spoiled and overweight, Xie Miaomiao is entrusted by her father, for a hefty sum, to Wu Jianxin, the owner of a mountain farmhouse, with instructions to make her work hard and lose weight. Over five months, Xie Miaomiao chops wood, carries water, works the fields, and learns cooking, repairs, and wilderness survival from scratch. She sheds her excess weight and temper, becoming upright in posture and steady in character. When the agreed period ends, her father drives up to collect her but cannot recognize his completely transformed daughter. Xie Miaomiao comes up with the idea of creating a healing countryside guesthouse and persuades her father to invest. She personally leads the renovation of the courtyard, and a year later, the 'In the Valley' guesthouse opens successfully, helping her discover her true purpose in life.
