Frustrated director Zha Yuezhi suffers a dual collapse in career and romance, and develops anxiety disorder. Left with no choice, he takes on the guidance work for a private theater troupe. The troupe is full of grassroots amateurs, and rehearsing the absurd play "The Inn by the Moon" leads to one mishap after another. Initially resistant, he is touched by everyone's pure passion and perseverance: some chase their dreams to protect their families, while others hold fast to their bottom lines and original aspirations. Zha Yuezhi is gradually healed and throws himself wholeheartedly into the rehearsals. Just before the premiere, an unexpected accident occurs, but everyone rises to the challenge, ultimately moving the audience with their sincerity, and the performance is a massive success. He steps out of his anxiety, rediscovers his passion for creation, and shines brightly on stage alongside this group of grassroots dream chasers.
