Father Old Zhou's sudden retirement and return home disrupts the original balance in the family. With deep estrangement already existing between father and son, a family meal triggers a dispute. A mysterious phone call and the parents' whispered conversations late at night lead Zhou Ran to conclude that his father has gotten into trouble outside. He quietly follows and tracks him, and the misunderstandings grow increasingly heavy. Mother Wang Mei takes out a dusty old ledger, uncovering Old Zhou's past of silently helping relatives, friends, and neighbors for many years. An old baby photo from 1995 tucked inside the ledger brings to light a secret buried for more than twenty years.
