On the eve of the acceptance inspection for Phase III of Jinhé Garden, six veteran foremen led by Qin Laosan bring their men to force Gu Chengchuan's hand. They demand higher prices and a share of decision-making power while secretly damaging electrical wiring and waterproofing, hoping to keep him under their thumb. At his most desperate moment, Gu Chengchuan produces a complete rectification ledger and a backup crew, leading Zhao Xiaochuan, a junior worker who has long been looked down upon, in overnight emergency repairs. Rivals who win contracts with low bids and cut corners repeatedly set traps for him. Yet Gu Chengchuan stands firm on material standards and construction rules. Refusing to rely on opportunistic schemes, he earns his place through clear procedures and honest workmanship, revealing the most fundamental principle for making a living in the construction industry.
