Agricultural expert Gu Wanning arrives at the barren Shitou Village. Facing cracked earth and helpless villagers, she makes a bet to grow food on the wasteland. From improving the soil and crafting new farming tools to water conservation and running night schools, she pours out her modern agricultural knowledge. A single sprout breaks through the soil, igniting the whole village's hope; a completed reservoir resolves generations of feuds between two villages. At harvest time, she chooses to quietly pack her bags and leave, keeping the spark of knowledge alive in every piece of land and every villager's heart.
