Shen Qingci was infatuated with Crown Prince Pei Jin for ten years, yet suffered cruel torment after marrying into the East Palace, ultimately being wrongfully killed by Pei Jin. Reborn back on the day of the wife-selection ceremony, she decisively avoids Pei Jin and instead accepts Lu Zhao's marriage proposal. Pei Jin successfully marries his 'lifesaver' Lin Yao, but grows increasingly remorseful and nostalgic for Qingci as they live together. When the truth is unmasked, Lin Yao turns out to be an anomaly who came for a mission, ultimately reaping what she sowed, while Qingci achieves a destined union with Lu Zhao and guards each other for life.
