History PhD Shen Yan transmigrates into the legitimate eldest son of the Shen family in Great Xia. His mother died early, his stepmother schemes against him, and his father forces him to take the imperial examination in place of his younger brother. Refusing to yield even in death, he leaves the family with nothing. Relying on his peerless scholarship, he wins three consecutive top honors in examinations, and an essay titled Opening the Sea shakes the imperial court. Relief of disaster and plague, verbal sparring with the crown prince, taking a qilin talent as his disciple, even princesses and peerless ladies look at him in a new light. Step by step, the former abandoned son counterattacks, and those who once looked down on him are left dumbfounded. Watch how Shen Yan relies on his backbone to stir the imperial court and become a legendary figure of an era!
