Awakening at Forty-Eight, A Middle-Aged Woman Opens a Shop and Becomes a Legend
On her 48th birthday, Shen Wan is forced into a divorce by her factory-director husband, Chen Jianguo, and his mistress, Lin Jiao. Kicked out with nothing, she takes only an ancestral iron wok passed down from an imperial chef and her seven-year-old daughter, Niuniu. While wandering the streets, she encounters Lu Zheng, a wealthy overseas Chinese businessman worth hundreds of billions. A bowl of hot noodle soup reminds him of his late mother's cooking. Hiding his identity and posing as a laid-off worker, Lu Zheng stays by Shen Wan's side and secretly helps her establish Wan Ji Restaurant. With her extraordinary culinary skills, Shen Wan makes a triumphant comeback. Chen Jianguo repeatedly tries to extort money from her, but fails. At a prestigious national culinary competition, Lu Zheng exposes his true identity, and Chen Jianguo ultimately ends up in prison. Shen Wan wins custody of her daughter, and three years later, she establishes a culinary training school for laid-off female workers, beginning a new chapter in her life.
