Zhou Qingyu guarded the Netherworld Prison for a hundred years, cultivating until he reached the pinnacle of the Emperor Realm. On the day of his engagement, the fairy Pianran breaks off their engagement to marry her junior fellow disciple Lin Fan. Lin Fan poisons himself and frames Zhou Qingyu, while the Venerable Gu Yue attempts to cripple his cultivation. Zhou Qingyu proves his innocence and intimidates everyone present before abandoning all his cultivation and reshaping his physical body to descend into the lower realm. His cultivation techniques and pills scatter throughout the various realms, while numerous Emperor-level magical treasures lower their cultivation to seek him out. With the restrictions of the Netherworld Prison gone, countless demons and imprisoned cultivators wreak havoc upon the mortal world. Regretting her decision, Pianran pursues him into the lower realm under the assumed name Zhao Yanyun, but after losing her memories, she breaks off their engagement once again. Zhou Qingyu marries Zhao Yinxi and helps a dying young woman turn her fate around and rise to the very top.
