On the very day the Zhou family brings their biological daughter, Zhou Zhiyu, back home, their adopted daughter, Zhou Yuxuan, frames her and gets her thrown out. Penniless, Zhiyu ends up wandering through an urban village, where a group of aimless misfits known as the "Fate Nobles" take her in. This unreliable bunch of family members gives up their bedrooms, sells their motorcycles, hauls bricks, and livestreams hand dances to raise money for her education. Zhou Zhiyu studies relentlessly, grows into an independent woman, and turns her life around by becoming the top scorer in the imperial-style entrance examination and gaining admission to Tsinghua University and Peking University. She and her family also open a shop near the school, finally finding a real home together. Zhou Yuxuan refuses to give up and continues framing Zhiyu and spreading rumors about her. After the school uncovers the truth, the police take Yuxuan away for online defamation, while Zhou Zhiyu delivers a satisfying takedown of her enemies.
