Gu Beishan, the head of the Gu family, comes to the Lin family in disguise to fulfill an old promise and test Lin Qianqian's true feelings. Lin Shihao, Qianqian's younger brother, is snobbish and mean, making things difficult for Gu at every turn. Chen Haonan also relentlessly pressures Qianqian, hoping to force her to bow to him. Yet Lin Qianqian stands firmly by Gu Beishan's side, never wavering because of his seemingly ordinary status, and even declares publicly, "He is my fiancé." When Gu's true identity is revealed, those who once mocked him change their attitudes at once. Gu Beishan takes Lin Qianqian's hand and gives her all the belated honor and affection she deserves. A disguise puts true love to the test and brings a deeply satisfying reversal.
