Yun Xun, a young woman with amnesia, casually remarks, "How pitiful," and sweet rain descends from the heavens. She sighs, "What a shame," and a withered tree bursts into bloom—yet she has no idea of her own powers. She sleeps for two days, while more than twenty years pass in the human world. The Crown Prince, acting on an imperial decree, sets out to bring her to the palace. Along the way, she encounters a nine-tailed fox who has devoted himself to a wronged official, a City God who dares not accept her bow, and others whose long-held obsessions she resolves one by one. Deep within the imperial palace, the beggar boy who once risked his life to defend the city has become an aged emperor, obsessed with immortality and abandoned by everyone.
